Although taken circa 1952, this photo of the altar at Immaculate Conception Church in Truro, NS, shows us what the Mass prayed in 1852 looked like.

It depicts Monsignor Basil Martin as he reads the Latin prayers on the plaque at his left, while directly in front of him is the tabernacle for the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament and a chalice partially hidden by his uplifted arm. Altar servers, choir and congregation were all behind him.
