Best Practices Institute
“Over
the course of two days, participants in this year's Best Practices
Institute will explore what it means to move beyond the fun of games and
the momentary significance of mission events such as soup kitchens to a
ministry with youth that truly nurtures a passionate spirituality
through a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ.
We will examine the latest research about young people, the newest
fads and trends in youth ministry, and end up with a practical
understanding of what we are called to do and who we are called to be as
leaders in youth ministry.”

SURVIVING MINISTRY: TAKING CARE OF YOUR TEAM AND YOURSELF
The area of supporting and maintaining youth workers is sometimes neglected in youth ministry, often leading to burnout, unfulfilled expectations and high turnover. Come and explore different strategies for keeping your volunteers and team members fulfilled and appreciated. You’ll also learn ways to extend your own “ministry life” so you can be even more effective in your ministry. All it takes is clear expectations, a child-like faith, and a little TLC: Training, Leadership and Care. Clayton Imoo is husband to Gail and father to sons Sean Isaiah and Jacob Isaac and daughter Kayla Marie. He has served as the Director of the Youth Ministry Office (www.youthmin.com) of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver for the past seven years, helping parishes develop their own youth ministries. Clay has spoken at numerous conferences, workshops, rallies, and retreats locally, nationally and internationally, including a memorable trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. Clay enjoys spending time with his family, playing music, playing sports, playing naptime, and writing blogs. He loves serving the youth and youth workers, and is motivated and inspired by the people he encounters in his ministry. Learn more about him at www.claytonimoo.com |

National Youth Ministry Conference |
|
|
|
In 2010 we have a unique opportunity to receive high quality training and spiritual refreshment right here in Atlantic Canada. The Diocese of Charlottetown in cooperation with the Canadian Catholic Youth Ministry Network is hosting a National Conference for adults in youth ministry from January 22-24, 2010.
This conference features great workshops for people just starting out to seasoned veterans all presented by experienced youth ministers from across Canada. They keynote speaker, Fr. John Dear, S.J., offers a chance for renewal through a message of authentic discipleship in Christ.
Given the immense opportunity this conference gives us to build youth ministry capacity in our diocese the Archdiocese of Halifax is offering financial assistance of up to fifty percent of the registration fee ($175 of $350) for official parish delegates.
